- The full batten mainsail is a practical and durable choice. It's easy to furl and mounted on a cart with wheels, making it easy to hoist and lower.
Its battens will contribute to better sail storage in the Lazybag. They will also limit wane and extend your sail's durability.
On the other hand, it will not perform as well as a semi-batted sail, as it will be slightly heavier and the battens will not contribute to improving volume and shape (constant profile battens).
- Horizontal cut, also known as straight cut or cross cut, is often the most economical choice.
It allows faster assembly and reduces fabric waste.
Mainly made with Dacron woven materials (more sensitive to deformation than laminates), it will perform slightly less well than the tri-radial cut, but will ensure a good durability/price ratio.
- Woven materials are for the most part the choice of durability. They will perform less well than laminates, with inferior volume retention, even if performance can be improved with the choice of tri-radial cutting.
- SAILONET's woven materials for horizontal cutting
We currently offer only 2 high-modulus Dacron fabrics, Newport from CHALLENGE and AP/SF from DIMENSION POLYANT.
DIMENSION POLYANT is slightly more expensive and slightly more durable.
